Hobbes the Mountain Lion

At any given time, you can find Hobbes perched on the cat tree in what we call his "mountain lion" pose. He stays there for hours. He won't share with Calvin, even though sometimes Calvin tries to push him off. You can't push a mountain lion out of a tree (not without a tranquilizer dart anyway).

Here he is, in the wild, surveying his territory.

Uh oh, he's been discovered!

Now he is pretending that I don't exist, but I know he'll remember me at dinner time.

My mom's Easter present

This year I was going to mail my mom her Easter present. I brought the gifts home in a paper bag (mistake #1) and I set it down on the chair (mistake #2). This is what the bag looked like within 5 minutes.

Yep, there's Calvin cramming himself into the bag on top of my mom's presents. As you can see, it wasn't a great fit, but that didn't stop him. Nope, he started in on some nest construction. He ripped and shredded to make it just right. It's blurry because it's an action shot. He was in the middle of construction here.
Now this is a cat bed to be proud of. Weeks of work went into this thing. My mom didn't actually end up getting her Easter present until Mother's day- and it was covered in cat hair and had a few stray tooth marks in it. But he's so cute, and he was so happy, I just couldn't steal his bed away from him. And when I did finally move it, he found it and slept on it.
He says if I was really nice, I'd go buy some more bagged presents for him to sleep on.

Shopping Cats

Next, I will show you what happens when we put stuff on Hobbes' chair. This is a special case because it's a paper bag and Calvin's two favorite things (second and third only to food) are paper and bags.
First, the cat scan...
Then the item in question is thoroughly and carefully explored...
Success! It has now become part of the cat chair and will be off-limits to everyone else from this point on.
And like good kitties, they always take turns with new toys...

About Hobbes

I thought since I posted about Calvin, I should put his brother Hobbes up here too. Hobbes doesn't have many hobbies, unless you count bug eating. He excells at bug eating and looking cute while sleeping. He's very flexible and has long legs. He's taller than his brother, and possibly lazier but I'm not sure. Here he is being cute, as usual.

This is his chair by the way, don't even try to sit on it. He'll eat you. OK, not really, but you will be covered in cat hair if you choose to sit there. You've been warned.

Calvin likes to knit

Calvin has many interests, in fact he is interested in just about everything I do whether it's cooking, watching t.v., eating ice cream, or knitting. Here he is helping me knit.

He's also not the type to leave in the middle of a project, so here he is still helping awhile later. Sorry, didn't mean to wake you up, I mean disturb your work.

I noticed the other day that my knitting needles have cat-sized toothmarks on them. The cat toothmarks looks suspiciously similar to the ones on the (now dead) bamboo plant in the bathroom. My knitting needles are also made of bamboo... coincidence?
